SALON INTERNATIONAL

October is by far one of the busiest months in my calendar from working in my store to educating for American Crew. Not to mention the prep for Salon International.

Salon International is the biggest event in the hair calendar of the year it is where I go to be inspired learn be with like minded people and to demonstrate a little of what we do in my store Attitude Mens Hair.

This year I had the privilege to be part of a panel discussion on the Business Stage to discuss how we deal with the challenges of running a business and still building a team and a clientele demonstrate on the Modern Barber Stage.

I built my inspiration from looking at images of young Mick Jagger, from his clothes to the loose texture of his hair that fell to a natural full. my aim was to create the haircut building a section pattern that could be replicated while making it interesting for the client. Then I had to look at building a product story to back up and support the finish to the hair.

As a Barber I think we over look this as part of our service. Were as Hairdresser see this as part of there service and there for benefit their clients as well as there average bill. I think that selecting the right products can be as important as deciding how to cut and style your clients hair.

Sometimes there is nothing better than to take yourself out of your comfort zone at events like this. Even to just attend and talk to people that you would never dream of starting a conversation with can leave you with a golden nugget of information that will benefit you. There is so much more to the world of cutting mens hair than just to stand in your shop and work behind the chair. Not that there is anything wrong in that.
